  About macros

A macro is a miniature program that can automate repetitive tasks within Excel.

The easiest way to think of a macro is as a tape recorder for keystrokes and mouse movements.   You turn on Tools | Macro | Record New Macro, perform some actions, turn Record off, run the macro, and the actions repeat automatically.

The easiest way to learn macros is to start with very, very simple examples.  After a surprisingly small number of these, you can start to do work that will amaze your friends and business associates.  You will also spend hours futzing and tweaking your macros with no discernible improvement in your productivity whatsoever.

Have fun.
