  Windows Shortcut Keys

The following shortcut keys can be useful in Windows:

ALT+TAB switches between programs.

This is a useful shortcut to know because it enables you to work quickly with multiple programs at once. If you are
viewing Excel at full screen, for example, but you also have your Web browser loaded, you can switch to the browser without closing Excel by doing the following:

  1. Hold down the ALT key and press the TAB key. A dialog box should pop up in the middle of your screen showing all open programs.
  2. Still holding down the ALT key, press the TAB key until you have chosen the program you want.
  3. Release the ALT key.

ALT+ESC cycles through the programs in the order they were started.

CTRL+ESC displays the Start menu.

PRINT SCREEN copies an image of the screen to the Clipboard. If this box is cleared, sends an image of the screen to your printer.

ALT+PRINT SCREEN copies an image of the active window to the Clipboard.

ALT+ENTER switches the program between a window (if it can run in one) and a full screen.

ALT+SPACEBAR displays the program's System menu. This is helpful when you want to minimize a program window quickly (i.e., shrink it down into the taskbar at the bottom of the screen). To do this, type ALT SPACEBAR N (for Minimize).
