Signed on February 5, 1917, respects Constitutions of states while asserting the primacy of the Federal Government.

128 members of the Senate, 500 members of Chamber of Representatives. Permanent Commission appointed during vacations of 15 Representatives and 14 Senators.

 

 

Powers of the Legislature
Laws passed similarly to US government, with bi-cameral approval. Proportional representation in lower house by Chamber of Representatives, while Senate is elected by territory (no proportional representation).

Powers of the Executive Branch
The President is elected by the people (majority vote) to serve in a capacity similar to that of the US President. As head of state, the president represents the country within diplomatic affairs, has veto power, and control of the military as commander in chief.
