The Japanese bank puts new hirees through intense zen-based rituals of mediation and hardships to foster unity and perseverance. The process helped dissuage them against materialist thoughts.
They started with two uniforms and practiced military drills. They were asked to go and beg for work without pay to see that work isn't based on monetary gain but what we make of it. Satisfaction is based on attitude.
The program emphasized cooperation.
The women's training was completely different and focused on their role as future wife and mother.
Their finished with a 25 mile marathon walk that showed them they could
accomplish anything. This greuling initiation system allows them to learn
the values of the family they are entering. It is the company's way to
undo the cultural changes and westernization of recent years.
