Videos on Teamwork and Teambuilding

We haven't had much experience in using videos for teamwork teaching. However, there are a number of commercial videos available on teamwork and teambuilding.

One that we especially like is:

San Diego Builders Association, Four Hour House
This fascinating video is about two teams of building contractors who set out to break the world record for building a house. They construct an entire 3 bedroom ranch house from scratch (fully completed -- painted, carpeted, electrical, plumbing, even landscaping) in under four hours (REALLY!!!). The video was produced like a sporting event, and though you wonder about the quality when it's over (would you buy a house built in four hours?) it did pass the San Diego building inspectors. The video shows how through teamwork people can achieve the seemingly impossible. It runs about 25 minutes and can be ordered for about $40 from the San Diego Building Industry Association at 6336 Greenwich Dr. Suite A, San Diego, CA. phone 1-619-450-1221.

On-Line Video Sales -- This website has numerous managerial videos, and about 20 or so on teams and teamwork. Good place to go if you really want a specific teambuilding video.

CRM Films (19xx?). Team Building,
. This video emphasizes the importance of goals, roles, procedures, and how relationships affect group meetings and decision making. It distinguishes between groups and teams. It is set in a boat-building yard, and uses humorous dramatizations aboard a ship to demonstrate lack ot teamwork. This video is recommended for use by team members. It runs for 18 minutes.
