Draft 0.1

For next week, come prepared with a three-paragraph description of your project.

  1. The first paragraph should describe the business problem in sufficient detail so that you and a friend can have an intelligent discussion about it.
  2. The second paragraph should describe the process that you consider captures the business problem, including suggestions about one or two useful examples that describe strengths and weaknesses of the process. Presumably these examples would enable you to discuss what is "wrong" and what is "right" about the process in the context of the business problem (see above).
  3. The third paragraph should describe your preliminary idea(s) about how to fix the problem and redesign the process to implement the fix. Presumably this would include an information system and/or database that will be the core of your prototype.

This draft, after discussions and revisions, will grow into your prototyping project, so don't feel that any effort put in at this stage will be wasted.

Also be aware that your three paragraphs will be posted to a Notes database on the MIS7520 class site. This means that your classmates will be able to see your description, as may guests (e.g., managers and alumni) who are participating in the course.
