MIS7520 Guest Registration
Thank you for joining us. This page begins a registration process
through which you will be able to give yourself a course guest
account and a personal password. Here's what to do.
Preliminary information
- Decide how you want your name to appear in discussions
(your name will appear as the author of any items you contribute).
The registration form will ask for your full name, middle initial,
and last name. You don't need to fill out all three. Entering
Ted Doe for first name and last name will list Ted Doe
as the author of any entries; entering Edward T. Doe for
first name, middle initial, and last name will at minimum list
Edward Doe as the author of an entry. Decide how formal
you want to be; so far in the course we have generally decided
to use the names we'd prefer people to use when they talk to us
informally.
- Decide on a password that you can remember easily.
- List a telephone number and email address where
you would like us to reach you should that be necessary. For example,
the registration program will automatically mail you at this email
address if something goes wrong with your registration. You don't
have to list the phone number if you don't want to, but the registration
database will insist on an email address. This is because it will
try to email you if something goes awry with your registration.
- There is a "company" field on the registration form.
If you wish, you may identify your company. If you wish to identify
yourself as Alumni or Faculty, please feel free to do so.
- Please note: it will take at least several minutes for your
registration to take effect (at least 10, and possibly longer).
We have had the best success entering discussions at least an
hour after registering (we're trying to speed this up).
What to do
- To register, you will initially sign on as Guest
using the password password. Note that the password will
print as asterisks:
- At the registration screen, Request a new account.
- Follow the directions on the resulting form, then submit it.
- At subsequent sessions enter discussions using your registered
name and password.
