Session 2: Database design - Data structure analysis

In this session we will review the Returns assignment and begin our discussion of Entity-Relationship diagrams (ERDs). We'll use a presentation describing the theory and practice of data structure analysis.

• erd2096.ppt provides copies of the slides as a PowerPoint file (n.b. 2.5 meg - if you are downloading over a modem, this may take forever. There are 49 slides in the presentation, and one includes a large screen shot).
• erd2096.zip has a compressed version of the presentation (91.5k - n.b. that's kilobytes, not megabytes as above). If you have WinZip or PKZip, you might consider downloading this one first. (If you don't have WinZip, you might consider downloading it off the Net at the earliest opportunity...).

7:15	Discuss data structures and ERDs. Discuss Orders assignment.
